Welcome to our web page of the Santa Maria de Valldonzella Monastery.
On behalf of our community of nuns, and friends who we are in contact with and live with daily we give you a heartfelt welcome. The community of Valldonzella was constituted in 1147 and incorporated into the Cister in 1237. Uninterrupted to the present day.
Today nine nuns live in the Monastery in hope following the rules of Saint Bernard, keeping in mind the sources and elements of monastic life, always searching for God and at the service of all. They belong to the Cistercian Congregation of the Crown of Aragon, together with the male Monasteries of Vallbona and Santa Maria de Solius.
The monastery is located at the foot of Tibidabo mountain, in front of the Barcelona Museum of Science.
